有網友注意到 Sigma-Aldrich 生物產品公司在網頁選擇”區域“的部份﹐ 把台灣的
英文名放 China (Taiwan)﹐ 而香港是 HongKong (China), 中國是 China (Mainland)。
這是很嚴重的矮化台灣﹐ 把台灣放到和香港同一個地位。
我可以了解政府沒這麼多時間一個一個去糾正每一個把台灣矮化的的單位/網站﹐
但是﹐我相信如果台灣人可以自己來做﹐ 讓對方知道台灣人不要被認成是中國的一部份﹐
台灣人拒絕台灣被矮化。
我這裡準備了一份抗議信﹐ 基本上就是說﹕
台灣不屬於中國﹐這樣一個大公司還把台灣放到中國以下﹐ 是一個很沒知識的做法。
這個做法﹐ 可能會讓你失去客人﹐ 而且﹐ 這是對台灣人很無禮﹐以及政治上的一
個錯誤。
我要求你在你的網頁上更正這個錯誤。

It has come to my attention that on your company website, Taiwan is listed
as China (Taiwan). While the political tension remains between Taiwan and
China, Taiwan remains apart from China. Therefore, to list Taiwan as part
of another country shows the lack of knowledge for a professional company
as yours, thus may cause unnecessary loss of clients. In addition, such
listing is not only offensive to all Taiwanese, but also political incorrect.
I hereby request changes to the listing on your website (http://www.sigmaaldrich.
com/Local/SA_Splash.html) immediately to prevent further unwanted attention
on this matter.
